If your bank account is frozen after a cyber complaint

Banks in India may place a freeze or lien when a cyber complaint names the account in the money trail. That decision is taken by the bank and the investigating agency. Counsel can help organise the papers; counsel cannot order the bank to release funds.

Papers that usually matter

  • SMS or email from the bank describing the freeze or lien
  • Account statement covering the disputed credits
  • Any NCRP acknowledgement or FIR number you have been given
  • KYC and an explanation of why the credit was received, if you say you are a bona fide holder

If you are the complainant whose money left your account, the first steps remain 1930 and a portal complaint — see the note on UPI fraud.
