Online financial fraud
This is the instruction the chambers sees most: money leaving a bank or UPI account after a call, a collect-request, a fake app, or a remote-access session. The work is to organise the record, use the public reporting channels in time, and appear where a complaint or defence requires counsel.
Financial cyber fraud in India is typically reported first to 1930 and on cybercrime.gov.in, then followed with the bank and, where required, a cyber police station. Speed matters for a freeze request. Outcome of that request is a matter for the bank and the investigating agency.
Facts commonly instructed
- UPI collect-request or QR scanned in error
- Screen-sharing / “customer care” remote access
- OTP or PIN shared on a call claiming to be the bank, courier, or income-tax
- Phishing links and cloned internet-banking pages
- Fake trading, crypto, or “task” apps asking for repeated deposits
- Job offers requiring a registration fee
- Account later placed under lien because someone else’s complaint named the account
What counsel may be asked to do
- Settle a written complaint and a chronology of UTRs
- Advise on the portal complaint, bank letter, and cyber-cell follow-up
- Correspond on an unjustified freeze, where the client is a mule-account victim or a bona fide holder
- Appear for the complainant or the accused once an FIR or notice exists
No recovery figure and no timeline can be stated on this website. Paying a stranger who claims to “reverse the UPI” is itself a frequent second fraud.
